About me
Hi, I'm Vanessa
Born in Barcelona in '81, Brooklyn's mom, an entrepreneur for over 20 years, and the creator of Cocinandomelavida.
I love cooking, eating well, traveling, learning new things, starting projects, and sharing what's genuinely part of my everyday life.
And after many years of talking about food, well-being, and habits, there's one thing I'm certain of:
“Taking care of ourselves has to fit into real life.”No perfection · No endless dieting · No turning every choice into a chore

The turning point

At 30, I found myself again
There's a part of my story that explains a lot about who I am today.
Around the age of 30, I went through a phase where I didn't recognize myself anymore.
I had accumulated bad habits, insecurities, and choices that were doing me no good, until the moment came when I realized that if I wanted a different life, I had to start making different decisions.
I went through a separation, moved to a new city, and practically started from scratch.
During that time, I kept repeating one phrase to myself: “I want to be me again.” And that's precisely what I set out to do.
I also changed the way I ate, started moving more, and became deeply interested in personal care. Though, over time, I also had to learn that trying to do everything “perfectly” could lead me to the exact opposite place.
I spent years in therapy working on my relationship with my body, food, and myself.
That's why today my approach to well-being is quite different:
I want to take care of myself to live better, not spend my life obsessing over taking care of myself perfectly.

The origins

How Cocinandomelavida was born
Before Instagram was what it is today, I started a blog.
I shared recipes, daily habits, workouts, and the things I was learning along the way.
I didn't have any grand plan. I just felt like sharing.
Then came social media, brand partnerships, work projects, and a community that grew far beyond anything I could have imagined when I first began.
For years, recipes and meal planning became a huge part of Cocinandomelavida. I was also among the first to regularly share Batch Cooking in Spain—a way of prepping the week's meals that eventually led to El Club del Batch Cooking.
And here we are.
Though Cocinandomelavida isn't quite the same as it was back then. Because neither am I.

So much more

Today, I wear many hats
The kitchen is still a huge part of this home.
Here you'll find easy recipes, home-cooked food, meal prep, and plenty of ideas to enjoy eating without overcomplicating things.
But you'll also find travel, family, well-being, products I genuinely use, restaurants, little discoveries, and snippets of my life.
Because beyond being a content creator, I'm a graphic designer and an entrepreneur. I've worked for years with brands and companies, built various projects, and currently also run a business with RINGANA.
I've always been like this. Curious. Restless. Eager to learn and quite incapable of doing just one thing my entire life.
And I think that's why this space still makes sense after all these years. Because Cocinandomelavida has never been just a collection of recipes. It has grown with me.

For you

If you've just arrived…
Welcome.
I hope you find a recipe you end up making twenty times, an idea that makes your week easier, a place you'd love to travel to, or something new to discover with me. Or simply a story where you recognize a little bit of your own.
We're still cooking here. But we're also living.
And after all these years, I think that sums up pretty well what Cocinandomelavida means to me.
