Today we are making homemade almond milk, a straightforward recipe with raw almonds and water that you can sweeten with a couple of dates if you like. With a little planning to soak the nuts and a blender, you will have it ready to enjoy thoroughly chilled or to add to your breakfast, with a pinch of cinnamon or vanilla to taste.

Ingredients

Here are the ingredients you need for this recipe

  • 200gr raw almonds
  • 1 Litre of water
  • 4 Dates (optional)

Step by step

Method

  1. 1Place the almonds in a bowl covered with water to soak for at least 8 hours.
  2. 2Once the time is up, rinse them thoroughly and remove the skins.
  3. 3We will use a jug blender to make the milk.
  4. 4Add the almonds and the litre of water.
  5. 5If you like, you can also toss in a few dates at this point for natural sweetness.
  6. 6Blend thoroughly. In my case, using the JTC Omniblend, 90 seconds is plenty to get it completely smooth.
  7. 7Strain the milk through a very fine mesh strainer or nut milk bag.
  8. 8Pour it into a glass bottle.
  9. 9Once everything is strained, you can stir vanilla protein powder or cinnamon into the jug with the finished milk to taste.
  10. 10Done! Our Homemade Almond Milk is ready.

Notes

  1. 1Serve well chilled.
  2. 2Keep in the fridge for up to 3 to 4 days.
  3. 3You can add sweetener if you prefer it sweet, along with cinnamon or vanilla.
