Innar tea – walnut and cinnamon infusion

Be the first to rate it!

If you're looking for how to make cinnamon tea, I recommend this Innar tea, a cinnamon and walnut infusion that I make on the stove with simple ingredients. I love drinking it nice and warm, without any rush, on a quiet afternoon or whenever you fancy an aromatic drink. This version is an easy alternative if you don't have a slow cooker at home.

To make it, I use 100g of walnuts, one liter of water, and cinnamon bark to taste: it yields four servings. The 45 minutes of cooking give the water plenty of time to soak up all the aromas. You can adjust the intensity with the amount of cinnamon and, if you fancy a sweet touch, add sweetener or date syrup.

If you'd like to make other homemade drinks, I recommend my Homemade almond milk and Mango and banana smoothie.

Ingredients

Here are the ingredients you need

  • 100g walnuts
  • 1l water
  • Cinnamon bark (to taste)
  • Sweetener or date syrup (optional)

Step by step

Method

  1. 1I made it in the slow cooker for 12h, but you can easily make it in a pot on the stove.
  2. 2Place all the ingredients in the pot.
  3. 3Bring to a boil and lower the heat.
  4. 4Let it simmer for 30-45min.
  5. 5All done! Now we can enjoy our INNAR TEA – WALNUT AND CINNAMON INFUSION

Extras

  1. 1Strain and pour into a glass bottle, let it cool down, and then store it in the fridge. We'll drink it nice and hot.
  2. 2If you find it too intense, simply add more water. I love a strong cinnamon flavor, which is why you see it looking so dark.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the walnut and cinnamon infusion keep?

Store it in an airtight container in the fridge and drink it within two days. Do not leave it at room temperature for more than two hours, and reheat only the portion you're about to enjoy.

How much cinnamon should you use for one liter of water?

The amount of cinnamon bark is completely to taste. If you prefer a milder flavor, start with a small piece and adjust next time; with 45 minutes of simmering, it has plenty of time to release a lot of aroma.

Can this cinnamon tea be made without sweetener?

Yes, sweetener and date syrup are entirely optional. I would try the infusion as is first, and only add a little if you fancy something sweeter.
