Ingredients
Here are the ingredients you need for the homemade curry ketchup
- 50g homemade tomato sauce (cooked with onion)
- 40g water
- 20ml apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon date paste
- 1 pinch ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon curry powder
- 1 pinch ground nutmeg
- Pink salt
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
Here are the ingredients you need for the burgers
- 200g cooked lentils (canned work great)
- 200g cooked brown rice
- 100g roasted butternut squash
- 1 egg
- Ground cumin
Step by step
For the ketchup
- 1Dissolve the cornstarch in the water until smooth and lump-free.
- 2Add all the ingredients to a small saucepan and cook, stirring constantly, until you get a smooth, thickened sauce.
- 3Let cool slightly and blend with an immersion blender until completely smooth.
- 4Pour into a clean glass jar and store in the refrigerator.
- 5Done! Our HOMEMADE KETCHUP is ready.
For the burgers
- 1In a bowl, combine all the burger ingredients.
- 2Pulse lightly with an immersion blender (leave plenty of visible bits unblended so the patties keep good texture).
- 3Spoon mounds of the mixture into a nonstick skillet and gently shape them into patties with the back of a spoon.
- 4Cook over medium-low heat until set enough on the bottom to flip (be gentle, they are delicate).
- 5Once cooked on both sides, assemble your burger with the homemade ketchup, cheese, avocado, pickled jalapeños, and your favorite bun (just like mine).
- 6All done! Our LENTIL AND RICE BURGERS WITH HOMEMADE KETCHUP are ready to enjoy.
