Today we're making rice with turkey and green beans, the kind of comforting dish you'll want on the table any day of the week. We love the rich flavor that garlic turkey brings, paired with tender spring garlic and vegetable broth. With a few simple steps and a brief rest at the end, our meal is ready to enjoy.

Ingredients

Here are the ingredients you'll need for this recipe

  • Garlic turkey ragout (or turkey thigh pieces and a couple of garlic cloves)
  • Parboiled rice
  • Young garlic shoots
  • A handful of cooked green beans
  • Vegetable broth
  • Black pepper

Step by step

Method

  1. 1Chop and gently saute the young garlic shoots until tender, then set aside.
  2. 2In the same pan, brown the turkey meat (if the pieces are too large, snip them smaller with kitchen shears). I use garlic turkey ragout because it adds tons of flavor; if you don't have it, just add a couple of minced garlic cloves to the vegetables so it turns out with the same rich flavor as mine.
  3. 3Season to taste with black pepper.
  4. 4Once the meat is browned, add the boiled green beans and let everything saute together for 5 minutes.
  5. 5Next, stir in the reserved garlic shoots.
  6. 6Now it's time for the rice; the ratio is two parts liquid to one part rice.
  7. 7Add the rice along with the vegetable broth.
  8. 8Let it cook for 20 minutes (parboiled rice takes about that long to become tender).
  9. 9Once the 20 minutes are up, take it off the heat, drape a clean kitchen towel over the pan, and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  10. 10Done! Our Rice with Turkey and Green Beans is ready to serve.
