Sauces for veggie burgers

Whenever I make veggie burgers, I love giving them an extra lift with a simple homemade sauce. This honey mustard yogurt sauce takes just three ingredients: 0% fat plain yogurt, Dijon mustard, and honey. I have it ready in 5 minutes with zero cooking, and these amounts make enough for four servings. All you have to do is stir, taste, and adjust the sweetness to your liking.

The yogurt provides creaminess, the mustard brings a nice punchy bite, and the honey rounds it all out. It's one of those veggie burger sauces I whip up whenever I want to switch up dinner without any fuss. I start with the written amounts and, after tasting, decide if it needs a little tweak before serving.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the honey mustard yogurt sauce keep in the fridge?

I keep it in an airtight container in the fridge and use it within two days at most, as long as the yogurt is fresh. Give it a stir before serving if it has separated slightly.

Can I use another yogurt instead of 0% fat?

Yes, you can use unsweetened whole milk yogurt or plain Greek yogurt if you want a thicker, richer texture. Add the mustard and honey, mix well, and taste before making any adjustments.

How can I make this sauce vegan?

Swap the yogurt for an unsweetened plain plant-based yogurt and replace the honey with agave syrup. Add the syrup gradually and taste as you go so it doesn't get overly sweet.
