Today we're making an orange and cocoa oat sponge cake, a simple recipe to enjoy for breakfast or an afternoon snack. We take full advantage of the orange and a little of its zest to give it that citrus touch we love so much with cocoa. All we have to do is blend the ingredients, pop the batter into the oven, and wait for it to bake.

Ingredients

Here are the ingredients you need for this recipe

  • 2 plain fat-free yogurts (0%)
  • 2 eggs
  • Egg whites
  • Rolled oats or whole oat flour
  • Pure cocoa nibs
  • Baking powder
  • 1 orange
  • Organic chocolate cereal balls (optional)
  • Sweetener (optional)

Step by step

Method

  1. 1Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
  2. 2Now blend the following ingredients: the 2 yogurts, and use the empty yogurt pots to measure out two pots of egg whites and 3 pots of rolled oats or oat flour.
  3. 3Wash the orange well and finely grate a little zest, making sure not to reach the white pith, which is very bitter.
  4. 4Set the zest aside and peel the orange completely until only the flesh remains.
  5. 5Next, add the 2 eggs, the sachet of baking powder, sweetener to taste, the orange flesh, and the zest to the blended mixture, and blend everything well once again.
  6. 6Pour the batter into a silicone cake mould.
  7. 7For decoration, add some pure cocoa nibs and a few organic chocolate cereal balls on top, or you can leave it plain if you prefer.
  8. 8Bake at 180ºC for around 30-35 minutes.
  9. 9Done! Our Orange and cocoa sponge cake is ready to enjoy.
