If you're looking for a quick, budget-friendly, and showstopping appetizer to surprise everyone at home, these puff pastry horns stuffed with mussel pâté are the perfect choice. They come together with just 5 pantry staples, and the result is as crispy as it is delicious.

The seafood pâté turns out super creamy and pairs wonderfully with the freshly baked puff pastry. Trust me, they'll disappear from the table in seconds at any gathering, so keep this recipe handy because you'll want to make it again and again.

  • 1/2 sheet of puff pastry
  • 100g steamed mussels
  • 2 small cans of tuna in spring water
  • 1 egg
  • 5 tbsp cocktail sauce
  • Sesame seeds (optional)

Step by step

Method

  1. 1Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
  2. 2Using aluminum foil, shape small cone molds.
  3. 3Cut the puff pastry into strips and wrap them around the foil cones to shape the horns.
  4. 4Beat the egg, brush the pastry with it using a pastry brush, and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  5. 5Bake at 180ºC until golden brown.
  6. 6Meanwhile, add the mussels, well-drained tuna, and cocktail sauce to a food processor, blending until smooth and creamy.
  7. 7Transfer the mixture to a piping bag and chill in the fridge.
  8. 8Once the pastry horns are ready, remove from the oven and carefully slide out the foil cones while still warm.
  9. 9Let them cool completely and fill with the pâté mixture just before serving.
  10. 10All done! Now we can enjoy our puff pastry horns filled with mussel pâté.
