Chickpea and Cinnamon Soup

Be the first to rate it!

Today I fancy a cozy chickpea and cinnamon soup, simple and comforting, the kind of dish I make when I want a different bowl meal without any fuss. It uses cooked chickpeas, homemade vegetable broth, and cinnamon sticks: just a few basic ingredients for a savoury soup where that lovely spiced aroma really shines.

What I love most is the velvety texture you get by blending and straining the chickpeas with the broth. It's much more than just a spiced broth; the chickpeas give it real body, turning it into a satisfying starter for four. It's ready in 40 minutes and makes such a nice change from everyday soups.

To keep mixing up your cozy bowl meals, I also recommend my Chickpea and onion soup and Broccoli and carrot soup.

Frequently asked questions

Can you freeze chickpea and cinnamon soup?

Yes, you can freeze it in individual portions once fully cooled. Thaw it in the fridge and stir well when reheating; if it turns out too thick, just loosen it with a splash of vegetable broth.

How long does it keep in the fridge?

Store it in an airtight container and enjoy within 3 to 4 days. Get it into the fridge within two hours of cooking, and only reheat the amount you plan to eat.

How do I get the soup silky smooth without any skins?

Remember to remove the cinnamon sticks before blending the chickpeas with the broth. Afterwards, pass the soup through a fine-mesh strainer to catch any leftover skins and ensure a wonderfully smooth finish.
