Healthy Nutella and fruit toast

Breakfast
Be the first to rate it!

Today I'm making healthy Nutella and fruit toast to give breakfast or an afternoon snack a fun twist without complicating things. I use whole wheat or multigrain sliced bread with no added sugar, chocolate hazelnut spread, strawberries, kiwi, and pineapple. It's a simple, bright idea for mornings when I fancy a sweet breakfast with fresh fruit.

What I love most is the contrast between the crisp toast, the rich spread, and the juicy fruit. To keep that texture, I toast the bread and assemble everything right before eating. With two slices, breakfast is ready in about 13 minutes, perfect to enjoy freshly made.

To switch up your sweet breakfasts, I also recommend my Oat crepes with healthy Nutella and the Giant pancake with Nutella and berries, two other delicious ways to enjoy this combination.

Frequently asked questions

Can I prepare this Nutella toast the day before?

I prefer to assemble them right before eating so the bread doesn't turn soggy from the fruit. You can leave the fruit washed and sliced in an airtight container in the fridge, then simply toast the bread and add the spread and fruit when you're ready for breakfast.

What fruit can I use instead of strawberries, kiwi, and pineapple?

You can swap them for banana, raspberries, or pear, depending on what you have at home. If the fruit releases a lot of juice, drain it slightly before placing it over the spread so the toast stays crisp.

How can I make this toast gluten-free?

Substitute the whole wheat or multigrain bread with certified gluten-free bread, and check the label on your chocolate hazelnut spread as well. If you're cooking for someone with celiac disease, use a dedicated toaster or toast the bread in a clean skillet to avoid cross-contamination.
