Mini Beef Burgers with Cheese, Figs and Barbecue Sauce

Today I'm making my mini beef burgers with cheese, figs, and homemade barbecue sauce, ready in 25 minutes. At home, we absolutely love the contrast between the bold flavour of roquefort and the sweetness of the fruit. Brioche buns pair beautifully with the mix, and rocket adds a fresh peppery bite that balances every single mouthful.

If you fancy trying a burger with figs, this mini format is ideal for sharing at a casual get-together. The sauce uses tomato, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, and soy sauce, among other ingredients: a simple blend that really elevates the beef. I recommend assembling them just before serving so the buns don't get soggy.

If you feel like cooking more beef, I recommend my Veal with cheese and mushroom sauce and these Beef meatballs in nut sauce.

Frequently asked questions

Can I swap the roquefort for another cheese?

Yes, you can use another blue cheese if you want to keep that sharp contrast with the figs. If you prefer a milder taste, brie also goes wonderfully with the fruit and beef.

Can these mini burgers be frozen?

It's best to freeze the meat separately, not the assembled sliders: the rocket and figs would turn soggy once thawed. If freezing cooked beef, let it cool completely first and store it in an airtight container.

How can I make them gluten-free?

Swap the brioche buns for certified gluten-free ones and use certified gluten-free soy sauce or tamari. Also double-check the labels on the patties, mustard, and remaining sauce ingredients.
