Roquefort, Fig, and Ham Pizza

Pizzas & savoury bakes

Today I'm making a Roquefort and ham pizza with fresh figs that I absolutely love for its contrast between sweet and savory. I get right to work on a homemade base using strong bread flour, crushed tomatoes, and shredded cheese. The Roquefort brings a wonderful intensity, while the sliced figs balance it out with their natural sweetness alongside a touch of homemade date paste.

If you're looking for a Roquefort pizza that feels a little different for dinner for two, this combination is well worth trying. I like to add the serrano ham right when it comes out of the oven so it keeps its tender texture and doesn't dry out. That way, every ingredient shines without the ham getting overcooked.

For another cozy dinner, I recommend my Spelt pizza with goat cheese and ham and my Spelt pizza with arugula and ham.

Frequently asked questions

Can I replace the Roquefort with another cheese?

Yes, you can use any other blue cheese, such as a mild Gorgonzola dolce, if you prefer a gentler flavor. Just scatter small pieces evenly over the pizza.

Is the date paste necessary?

No, feel free to skip it if you prefer a less sweet contrast, since the figs already bring natural sweetness. If you do use it, start with just a little so it doesn't overpower the Roquefort and ham.

How should I store and reheat leftover pizza?

Store it in an airtight container in the fridge within two hours, and enjoy it within two days. Reheat it in the oven; if possible, take the ham off first and place it back on at the end so it doesn't dry out.
