Today we're making a Skillet Pizza with spelt flour and light fresh mozzarella, a great homemade option for enjoying pizza without turning on the oven. We knead it, shape it, and cook it gently covered in the pan: it's that easy to share dinner topped with everyone's favorite ingredients.

Ingredients

Ingredients you'll need

  • 250g strong spelt flour
  • 1 cube fresh yeast
  • 1 teaspoon pink Himalayan salt
  • 20ml extra virgin olive oil
  • 150ml warm water

Toppings

  • Healthy tomato sauce
  • Shredded low-fat cheese
  • Light fresh mozzarella ball
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Fresh chives

Step by step

Method

  1. 1Add all the dough ingredients to your food processor or stand mixer and knead for 6 minutes on speed 3 (if you don't have one, just knead by hand).
  2. 2Transfer the dough to your work surface, dust with a pinch of flour so it doesn't stick, and work it into a smooth ball.
  3. 3Place it directly into a lightly greased non-stick skillet and shape it using your hands.
  4. 4Cook over low heat, covered with a lid, for 8-10 minutes.
  5. 5Once the time is up, check that the dough has puffed up and is halfway cooked through, then add your toppings.
  6. 6Cover again and cook over low heat until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
  7. 7Done! Our SKILLET PIZZA is ready to enjoy.

Note

  1. 1I cook on gas; you might need a bit more time if you're using ceramic or induction, so cooking times are purely estimates and will also depend on the thickness of your crust and the flour you use.
