Ingredients

Here are the ingredients you need

  • 1 rectangular puff pastry sheet
  • Low-fat, lactose-free shredded cheese
  • 150g chopped bacon
  • Pine nuts
  • 2 red onions
  • Water
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Honey (optional)

Step by step

Caramelizing the onions

  1. 1Slice the onions into julienne strips and place them in a bowl with a small splash of water.
  2. 2Microwave for 10 min at maximum power.
  3. 3Once the time is up, remove, stir, add a splash of extra virgin olive oil, and microwave again for another 5-7 min.

Making the tart

  1. 1Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
  2. 2Cut the puff pastry sheet in half, and then score an inner rectangle inside each half with a knife.
  3. 3Remove the outer strips and press them along the edges of the base rectangle to form a raised border.
  4. 4Prick the base with a fork and add the fillings: cheese, caramelized onion, and bacon.
  5. 5Bake until lightly golden and the cheese and bacon are cooked through.
  6. 6Serve topped with pine nuts and a light drizzle of honey.
  7. 7And that's it! Our SAVORY PUFF PASTRY TART WITH CARAMELIZED ONION AND BACON is ready.
