Today I'm bringing you a dessert that is sure to win you over: my turrón flan (made without any actual turrón). It delivers all the classic festive flavor and that wonderfully rich, creamy texture of traditional Spanish nougat, but in a wholesome, homemade version you can enjoy any time of the year.

It is super easy to make, has zero added refined sugar, and calls for just 4 basic ingredients. The secret lies in pairing smooth almond butter with date syrup, creating a luscious treat that the whole family will love without any hassle.

Here are the ingredients you need for this recipe

  • 350g almond butter
  • 5 XL eggs
  • 500ml unsweetened almond milk
  • 4-5 tablespoons date syrup

Step by step

Method

  1. 1Add all the ingredients to the bowl of your food processor or blender and blend well until completely smooth and combined.
  2. 2Drizzle a little date syrup into the bottom of each ramekin, then carefully pour in the prepared flan mixture.
  3. 3Set the ramekins in a large, deep baking dish and pour in about three fingers of warm water to create a water bath.
  4. 4Bake at around 180ºC for 30 minutes, or until the tip of a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. 5Once baked, let the flans cool to room temperature, then transfer them to the fridge to chill completely.
  6. 6All done! Now we can enjoy our turrón flan (without turrón).
