Today we're making a calzone with spelt flour and beer dough, a delicious way to enjoy a folded pizza made right at home. We love packing it with our favorite ingredients and sealing the edges tight to trap all that incredible flavor inside. Let's roll up our sleeves and get baking!

Ingredients

Here are the ingredients you'll need

  • 250g strong spelt flour
  • 1 tsp pink Himalayan salt
  • 10ml extra virgin olive oil
  • 160ml beer

Filling

  • Healthy tomato sauce
  • Low-fat shredded cheese
  • 95% lean cooked ham
  • Dried oregano
  • Buffalo burrata

Step by step

Method

  1. 1Place all the dough ingredients into your food processor or stand mixer and knead for 6 minutes on speed 3 (if you don't have one, just knead by hand).
  2. 2Shape the dough into a smooth ball, place it onto a sheet of parchment paper, and roll it out into a flat circle.
  3. 3Spread the fillings across one half of the dough: tomato sauce, cheese, ham, oregano, and torn buffalo burrata.
  4. 4Fold the clean half over the top like a large turnover and crimp the edges tightly to seal.
  5. 5Make a tiny slit on top to let steam escape so the dough won't balloon, brush with a little extra tomato sauce, and finish with a sprinkle of ham and oregano.
  6. 6Bake at 200ºC for about 15 minutes until golden.
  7. 7Done! Now we can dive into our BEER DOUGH SPELT CALZONE.
